WP Social Ninja Review – Social Feed, Reviews, & Chat

  • Do you want to boost your social media presence and improve your overall online visibility?
  • Do you want to display authentic social reviews, feeds, and chat buttons from different platforms on your site?
  • Do you want to do all this without any coding or hassle?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you might be interested in WP Social Ninja. WP Social Ninja is an all-in-one WordPress social media plugin that lets you add social reviews, social feeds, and social chats from various platforms on your website with just a few clicks.

Just to give you a bit of context, this plugin just got released recently, but I have been a customer for WP Manage Ninja products such as Ninja Table Pro for several years. That is the reason I got immediately interested in this because they are well known and respected developers in the WordPress ecosystem.

WP Social Ninja is designed for WordPress users who want to leverage the power of social media to grow their audience, trust, and conversions. It’s an easy-to-use plugin that integrates with popular platforms such as Facebook, Google My Business, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, and more.

What is WP Social Ninja?

WP Social Ninja is a social media plugin for your WordPress with three main core functionalities coming from this product:

  1. Social Reviews – Essentially you are bringing all the reviews you acquired from your customer base in your social media pages like Facebook page or Google My Business page and displaying all those reviews with the ability to customize the look and feel within your WordPress website in an embeddable and easily viewable way. This means users do not need to go out of your website to see all the reviews – everything will be shown within the website itself with the ability to verify these reviews by clicking on the source link.
  2. Social Feeds – You are embedding all the social media content from a particular profile, particular hashtag, but with any type of filters to get the right or accurate information you want and display those posts within your social media platform depending on your use case or depending on your need.
  3. Social Chat – It’s not a native chat something like Intercom or Talk.to. It’s more like a social chat as the name mentions, where it just gives you the ability to create a pop-up window with all the controls and feel of a live chat functionality. But once the user initiates it, whatever social media page or account you have controlled and set up, it will initiate that live chat feature from your website but through your social media page or account which you have set up – something like Facebook Messenger, for example.

With WP Social Ninja, you can:

  • Display social reviews from Facebook, Google My Business, Airbnb, Amazon, Yelp, AliExpress, Trustpilot, Booking.com, TripAdvisor and more on your website to increase credibility and social proof
  • Showcase social feeds from Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook (coming soon) on your website to increase engagement and followers
  • Add social chat buttons from Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Twitter, Slack, Skype, Phone, Email, WeChat, Line, Snapchat, LinkedIn & Viber on your website to increase communication and support
  • Customize the appearance and behavior of your social widgets to match your brand and website design
  • Works out of the box with almost all social networks, and setup is effortless
  • WP Social Ninja is designed to work with most WordPress themes and plugins, but always remember to back up your WordPress website before installing new plugins.
  • WP Social Ninja is a powerful plugin that can help you take your WordPress website to the next level with social media. It’s a plugin that can help you save time, money, and effort by providing you with everything you need to connect with your audience on different platforms.

But don’t just take our word for it. In this WP Social Ninja review, we’ll show you how this plugin works, what features it offers, what are its pros and cons, and how it compares with other similar plugins.

By the end of this review, you’ll be able to decide if WP Social Ninja is the right plugin for you.

This is our WP Social Ninja review and tutorial guide, so let’s get started!

Download The Plugin

The free version of WP Social Ninja is available for download at WordPress.org.

The paid version of WP Social Ninja is also available for purchase from their official website.

The free version is limited based on features, social platforms, and controls.

You can check more details on the WordPress.org page.

Installation

Installation is really easy. There are two ways to install this plugin:

  1. Free Version Installation – If you’re just using the free version of the plugin with the option where they have given basic controls but they have limited several features and functionality, you can just directly install this by going to WordPress.org and searching for it and install through your WordPress backend or just downloading it and installing.
  2. Pro Version Installation – If you are a pro customer, once you purchase it you will get a pro zip where you can essentially download, upload to your website and install it. It will automatically ask you to install the free plugin also which you can do with just one click. Once you activate it, just insert your license key to get automatic updates and you get it set up as easily as possible.

Upload the zip file to your WordPress installation and activate it from the Plugins menu in the WordPress admin panel.

It’s straightforward to install.

Also, if you are looking for documentation or just help in getting started, once you purchase this product you will get an email with the welcome message and they do provide a documentation link with the knowledge base. To know more about the plugin, check out their official documentation, and it’s excellent.

WP Social Ninja Features

There are three main features of WP Social Ninja. Let’s take a look at each one of them in detail.

Social Reviews

Social Reviews allows you to import reviews you have from various social networks.

Social reviews using WP social ninja

It’s a great way to promote your reviews and customer feedback from Google Places, Airbnb, Amazon, Yelp, AliExpress, Trustpilot, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, and Facebook.

This could work as social proof for your business. Social proof is a psychological factor where people have a certain level of confidence in the opinion of others, which is crucial when understanding your target audience.

It’s an effect where a person believes that if many other people share a common belief, then they should as well. For example, if someone who has had good experiences with “ABC business” believes that it will be just as reliable, they may decide to use it instead of their usual “CBA business.”

Social Reviews Authorization Process

The authorization process is straightforward. All you need to do is first click on the gear icon and you will get a pop-up where you need to authorize your social media profile to connect with WP Social Ninja and get all the data. There is an automatic way and manual way, and you can also read the documentation which gives you more details on what is happening behind the screen.

For different platforms, different types of authorization settings you need to proceed with, and all these are well laid out on their documentation as well. There’s no coding or technical difficulty when connecting social media accounts – it is straightforward.

Social Reviews Customization

You can also control the design and data of the social review template. The social reviews template allows controlling the style and columns of data.

Social reviews template

Templates – You have the option to control the design element. You can choose from slider, masonry option, and grid layouts. Within grid, you have multiple different functionality styles like Vega, Spice, and Cyrus. Depending on which style you pick, it automatically changes for the entire preview screen. You also have the ability to control the number of columns you want to show – two, three, or four columns depending on your preference.

Filters – Filters and settings are a great way to control reviews you want to showcase to your website visitors. You have much more control of the filters on what kind of reviews you want to show. This makes really good sense if you receive some negative reviews or low star ratings – obviously you can understand that you don’t want to show those kind of reviews within your product page or as social proof.

You have the ability to control:

  • Show only four-star reviews or five-star reviews
  • How many reviews you want to display
  • Order the reviews depending on random selection
  • Hide reviews without any text
  • Filter by different business categories if you have multiple business pages

Settings – You have the option to control every element you see on the preview panel. You can enable or disable it. For example, you can disable author image, username, date, platform display. You also have the ability to control your date format – if you prefer to have a month-based date first, you can choose that, or you can have your own custom date style as well.

You can also control the design and style using settings & header.

Social reviews design

Header – You can turn on the header and it will show a platform-based rating just to give you an idea of what your total rating was and based on how many reviews it was, and gives the users the ability to write their own review as well. You have the option to control these as well – for example, you can take off the “write review” button if you want to.

Pagination – Finally, you have pagination for your social reviews. If you don’t want to show all the reviews, you can turn on the “load more” option and control how many reviews you want to showcase per page.

Social Feeds

Social feeds mean it allows you to show your social media content feed from your social profiles on your website, which can be particularly effective when combined with video marketing strategies.

WP social feed for WP

This is a great way to let people know about the latest news, promotions, and discounts you have from various social networks. Currently, WP Social Ninja supports Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook (coming soon).

Social Feeds Authorization

The functionality for all platforms is very similar. If you know how to set up one profile, you can essentially do it for the other platforms as well. First, you need to click on the gear icon and you will get a pop-up where you need to authorize your social media profile to connect with WP Social Ninja and get all the data.

There is an automatic way and manual way, and you can also read the documentation which gives you more details on what is happening behind the screen. For different platforms, different types of authorization settings you need to proceed with, and all these are well laid out on their documentation as well.

Creating Social Feeds

Once you have connected your account, all you need to do is click on “Add New Template” to create a social feed. The system automatically loads with a preview showing your social media feed within the interface. You can have multiple different templates and embed them in multiple different places within your website.

Here also you have control over the source of the data with filters. There are no coding or technical requirements – all these are different visual controls you have to control the data and look and feel of this particular widget. Whenever you make any changes, it will be dynamically updated in the preview screen as well so you know what is happening.

Social feeds data

Source Control – The first option is the source where you control what data source you want to use. You have couple of options depending on the social media network. For example, for Twitter you have:

  • User timeline to use the timeline details
  • Home timeline if you want to switch to all the home feeds
  • Hashtag option is also available – you can follow a specific hashtag
  • Mentions are also available
  • You also have the ability to bring content from a different Twitter handle – you just need to give authorization for your Twitter to get that connection going, but it does not necessarily have to be your own account

Templates – You can style the look and feel using various templates and grid styles. You have the options to control the design element. This gives you a traditional social media flow, but you have options for masonry style view and carousel option where it’s just moving around. You can choose standard layout as well. Template designs will also be available depending on the layout you choose. For example, YouTube might get more templates than Twitter.

Filters – Now you have the ability to filter out posts based on different criteria such as:

  • Number of posts you want to display
  • Post order by date as ascending or descending
  • Show posts containing only specific words or hashtags
  • Exclude some specific content

Feed Settings – You have the option to customize any element you see on the preview panel. You can enable or disable it. For example, you can disable author image, enable or disable username, date display, etc. Basically, you click on all the things which you don’t want to see and it will automatically disable all these things. You also have the option to display social media cards, set up display photo and videos on pop-up – all these options are available.

Header – You automatically have the option to control the header section of this social media widget. You can control the visibility, disable the avatar image if you want, disable the name, or take it off – basically just enable or disable all the different elements which you don’t need.

Follow Button – They have given a separate option for the follow button specifically. You can choose where you want to show that follow button or not, and control the text – for example, rather than giving just “follow,” you can say “follow me” or something like that.

Pagination – Finally, you are presented with pagination options. You have the control to show the number of feeds, and after that limit, what should happen – should it keep on showing all the data, should you want to have a “load more” button, should you have infinite scroll, and control the elements on how many posts per page.

Design options are available for all the elements with the option to turn them on or off. Finally, you have pagination for your social feeds too.

Publishing Social Feeds

Publishing is straightforward – it doesn’t matter which page builder or theme you use. You can use any page builder or any setup. Just add an element to add a shortcode, paste the code which you get from the template, and click publish. It will work with Gutenberg, Elementor, Beaver, or whatever page builder because there is no dependency with any theme or plugin. Everything will be visible on the front end based on the settings you created.

Social Chats

Social chat is a feature that allows you to have a social live chat widget on your website.

WP social chat

This is a great way to allow your customers to interact with you easily from a chatbox through social media platforms. As I mentioned, this is not a native chat but a mere way of connecting your social media channels within your website for your users.

It’s not native or direct live chat similar to Intercom, Thrive Desk, Help Scout, and others, so it doesn’t replace them. But with this plugin, you can easily create a hyperlink to communicate with your audience through social channels.

Currently, it supports Messenger, WhatsApp, and Telegram for direct chat functionality. It also allows you to link to Instagram, Twitter, Slack, Skype, Phone, Email, WeChat, Line, Snapchat, LinkedIn & Viber.

Creating Social Chat Widgets

You can have multiple different social chat widgets for different pages. For example, for your services page you might have a different one, for your home page you might have a different one, for your contact us page you might have a different one. So you can have much more control over how many chat widgets you want, or you can have one universal one as well.

Adding Channels – Here is where it’s a bit different. You need to add a channel. These are the options which are available: Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Twitter, Slack, Skype, Phone (direct cell phone call), Email, WeChat, Line, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Viber.

What essentially will happen is these are all the social connectors or different connectors you have. Once you click on something, for example Facebook Messenger, you give the URL or what is the ID you want to use on your social media. When you click save, it creates a social chat bubble, and when users click on “start chat,” it will automatically initiate that chat through this channel if you have multiple channels set up or initiate the specific one if you have added only one.

It’s just hyperlinking to get started with that discussion through that particular social media channel. That is the core functionality of this tool.

Templates – You have different template options. Chat box is the one which makes most sense because if it’s just an icon, you’re essentially not making use of all the features. If you click on just the icon, it automatically opens up that social media widget, which is not the right use case – you’re essentially degrading the plugin’s potential with that particular functionality. But it is there if you want to use it.

It’s better to use the plugin’s potential with chat box where a pop-up comes out. You have different style options: General, Support, Review, and Sales. These are just to give you inspiration, but obviously you can edit all these things as you like.

You can also control layout and design.

Social chat design

Customization Options:

  • Header & Picture – You have control to change the name and caption. You have an option to add your own profile picture.
  • Welcome Message – You have the option to control what you want to show in the welcome message. If you want to have a foreign language or local language, you obviously can do this. You also have the option to add HTML formatting as you wish.
  • Channel Buttons – You have the option to control the “start chat with” text – for example, “start chat in FB” or something like that.
  • Chat Bubble Button – You have the option to control both the text and the icon. There are different icons available depending on your need.

Settings & Alignment – You can show the plugin on the bottom, bottom left, top left, top right – all these positioning options are available. You have the option whether you want to show this chat on every single web page or just want to limit this to a particular web page. If you want to show a particular chat widget for a particular WordPress post, then you can do that as well.

Working Hours – You can automatically set based on dates and time schedule to show if it’s within this particular time period – you can say that you’re online or you will be offline. But remember, it’s just a pre-formatted setting, so it’s essentially not showing based on whether you’re actually online or not. You just set up these as your working time. This might be suitable for someone like a local business where you know that you are going to be working during these kind of hours.

Style & Color – You can have control over all the different color elements within this chat bubble. You can change the title background color and all these things depending on your brand or personal preference.

Priority – This is an advanced setting that most of the time you won’t need to use. But if there are multiple requests within that particular page, you can use the priority function to prioritize which widget to show first. This is a bit more technical – maybe even the WP Social Ninja team will help you figure this out, but most people won’t be needing to use this particular functionality.

It allows you to fully customize pictures, text, color, position, icons, and more. The cool thing is that there’s no shortcode embedded in this particular widget because it’s automatically enabled based on where you set it up to show.

Advanced Settings

There are a couple of additional advanced settings where you can control all the configuration you have set up. You have the option for syncing – what is the time duration between when you want to check for new posts. Essentially, if you use one hour, that means every single hour a new request will be sent to the social platform. This means more load on your social resource. If you want to do that, you can, or you can say that just once a day is enough.

You also have the option to clear feeds cache, clear social media cards, and more options are available similarly for all the different sections as well.

WP Social Ninja Pros & Cons

Now we will look at some of the main pros and cons of WP Social Ninja. This is not a sponsored video – all this video is just based on my honest initial impressions, but I am an affiliate for WP Manage Ninja, so if you wish to support me and if you wish to get this plugin for yourself, I would appreciate if you use my affiliate link. It does not cost you anything extra but helps me to create more videos like this.

Cons

  • Not a cheap plugin – The initial price starts from $99 to $499 depending on your need. Even these prices are claiming to be the early bird pricing, which essentially means once this stage is over, you might see the plugin price increase even more. So if you’re looking for a cheap price product, obviously this is not right for you.
  • It’s a new plugin – It’s not technically new because these guys are experienced in the WordPress industry. They are one of the biggest trusted and respected WordPress developers in the community. But this particular product is brand new, which means I encountered a couple of bugs while creating this video. This is still not a matured product, so as they go, they will keep on fixing these bug issues and everything. But most of the features are working as mentioned without any major issues, but still it’s just a barely day-old plugin as of when I created this review.
  • They have a free version of the plugin, but it is limited – You can’t customize it thoroughly, and it does not work with all the social media platforms.
  • Works only with WordPress – It’s a given right from the name and from the ecosystem. If you’re wanting to use this plugin for a different HTML-based or Shopify or something like that, it does not work like that. It only works with WordPress-based CMS websites.
  • Live chat is not a native live chat feature – Even though they mention live chat, you need to understand it’s a social chat, not just live chat. That essentially means you are asking your users to click on that link, taking them to the social media page of the platform and chatting directly through that. There are good and bad things here – if the user is really happy with the social media platform and is preferring to use a social media platform to do that, then it’s great because it goes through the social media platform. But if the user does not like to log into all these different platforms and instead they just want to have a direct native chat, then it might be a turnoff for them.
  • Just embedding content – This plugin as of now is just for embedding content in your website. Whatever content it brings from the social media pages to your WordPress site, it’s just embedding those content. This does not mean that you can create posts with it or it can create additional content based on this. There is no curation or syndication work going around. I’m not sure what will happen in future, but at least as of now, it’s just for embedding whatever social media content it grabs. There is no way to auto-publish or auto-create posts or pages depending on this.

Pros

  • Well-respected WordPress plugin developers – WP Manage Ninja, the team behind this plugin, is a respected WordPress developer with many WordPress plugins and ecosystem experience. They are well known for WordPress plugins such as Ninja Tables, Fluent CRM, Fluent SMTP, and all these other products.
  • Works out of the box – Works out of the box with almost all social networks, and setup is effortless. There is no technical difficulty – everything is easy to understand from a beginner point of view, and you can essentially get started and set up this plugin just within 10 minutes.
  • Automatic synchronization – Social profiles are automatically synchronized with your social media platforms.
  • Completely customizable setup – The setup is entirely customizable, and you can customize each element of the plugin to your liking, giving you complete control over how it looks. You have full option to customize all the look and feel of this particular widget – all the text, colors, features, elements. You can turn them off or on.
  • Works with any theme or page builder – The plugin works with almost all WordPress themes and page builders. They have created a plugin where for publishing, all you need is the shortcode and paste it on any field or any HTML editor within your WordPress site. That essentially cuts out dependency of any page builder or theme specifically. It will work with Gutenberg, it will work with Elementor, it will work with Beaver, or whatever page builder because there is no dependency with any theme or plugin.
  • Built for non-techie people – It was built for non-techie people. There is no CSS coding or JavaScript. If you want to change the color, it’s just picking the color from a color picker. If you want to change the text, you just rename the text. It’s built for non-techy WordPress users.
  • Amazing support – Their support is amazing, fast, and helpful.
  • Optimized for performance – Optimized for performance, and it loads fast on website load. I still haven’t done a full analysis on that, but from my initial experience, these guys are also well known for their performance-oriented plugins and all the optimization. During my testing, their chat widget was loading really fast compared to having a really low impact on the resource usage.
  • Intuitive and straightforward interface – Intuitive and straightforward interface.
  • Excellent responsive support – The plugin has excellent support for responsive views, such as from mobile. I did test out their preview for social feeds and social reviews on how it looks like on mobiles and tablets, and it did look really good on all the different layout options. Based on whether your users are coming from desktop or mobile or tablet, it will still look good on all these platforms.
  • Save templates for easy customization – You can save templates for easy customization of your reviews pages.
  • Lifetime deal with all features – Even though the price is on the higher end as I mentioned in the cons, they do provide it as currently a lifetime deal. I’m not sure when they are going to change to a monthly deal, but still, even for the lifetime deal, you do get all the plugin updates which is common, but you also get priority support and all the features included in all the plans. There is no restriction within that.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this is a well thought-of plugin because it’s bringing a good use case depending on any type of business or person to get all social media content for your website. But purely the use cases or how you want to use the product is totally dependent on you.

You can essentially figure out whether this plugin is for you or not just by using the free WordPress plugin, and even the pro version – you can just set up the entire process within 10 minutes and decide if this is something you want or not.

To conclude, WP Social Ninja is an excellent plugin for WordPress website owners who want to promote their social media pages or bring user reviews from their social media pages onto their website. It has an easy-to-use interface, and it’s very customizable. The support team is fantastic, fast, and helpful.

They have a free version of the plugin, but it does not work with all social media platforms, and you can’t customize it fully because there are some limitations in the free version that do not allow you to do so.

WP Social Ninja is one of WordPress’s best social media plugins on the market right now; however, it is a little expensive, and it’s an early product.
