How to Convert SEO List to SEO Spintax
How to convert SEO list to SEO spintax in one paste: keyword list in, {a|b|c} spintax out, plus an expander to preview every variation. Free.
How to convert SEO list to SEO spintax: paste the list into the tool below and it comes back as {word1|word2|word3}, the syntax spinning software reads.
How it works: Paste your keyword or synonym list below. Items can be separated by commas, line breaks, or a mix of both. The tool detects both automatically.
0 items
0 possible variations
Three modes, all on this page. Paste a keyword or synonym list separated by commas, line breaks or both, and it comes back formatted. Build a string a word at a time if you want to vary one slot in a sentence. Or paste an existing string into the expand tab and generate real variations from it, including nested groups, so you can see what will actually go out before it does.
Two characters do the whole job
Braces mark where the text can vary. A pipe separates the choices inside them. Everything outside the braces stays fixed in every version.
Input: {Hello|Hi} {world|everyone}. This is a {great|fantastic} tool.
Output: Hi everyone. This is a fantastic tool.
The variation count multiplies rather than adds, which is the part people get wrong. Four groups of three options is 81 strings, not 12. Twenty groups averaging three options is around 3.5 billion theoretical combinations, though theoretical is doing heavy lifting in that sentence - true uniqueness depends on whether the options are actually different in meaning, not on the arithmetic.
That compounding is why the expand mode matters more than the generate mode. Look at what comes out before you send it, because a group with a duplicate option or a stray empty item is invisible in the spintax and obvious in the output.
Converting a keyword list
- Open the List to Spintax tab.
- Paste your list. Items can be separated by commas, line breaks, or both. If yours is still a spreadsheet column, the column to comma converter will flatten it first.
- Leave grouping on One group if every item is an alternative for the same slot, giving you
{item1|item2|item3}. - Switch to One group per line when each line holds its own set of alternatives. Every line becomes a separate group, split on commas.
- Optionally remove duplicates or normalise the case, then copy the output.
Input (one group per line):
best, top, leading
seo tools, seo software
Output:
{best|top|leading} {seo tools|seo software}
Building it word by word
Use this when you have a finished sentence and want to vary two or three words inside it, rather than a list to convert.
- Type or paste your text into the input.
- Double-click any word you want alternatives for.
- Type the synonyms into the “Add synonym” field and click Add.
- Click Apply to Text and the word gets wrapped.
- Repeat for other words. The output updates as you go.
Where this is still worth using, and where it is not
For anything you want to rank, write it once and write it properly. Spun body copy is thin content with extra steps, and Google’s spam systems have been specifically trained on it for years. There is no version of this that produces a page worth publishing.
Where it still earns its place is the opposite case: the same message going to many recipients, where identical text is itself the problem.
| Job | Worth spinning? |
|---|---|
| Blog posts you want to rank | No. Write it once, properly. |
| Link building anchor text | Yes. Variation is the point. |
| Outreach email sequences | Yes, above a few dozen sends. |
| Ad copy permutations | Yes, for volume testing. |
| Social variations | Useful, but check the output reads. |
| Test and seed data | Yes, and nobody is reading it. |
I use it for two things: outreach at volume, where every insert gets a different anchor, and email sequences where I want natural variation across a list without rewriting each one. It is a production shortcut for text that is already good, not a way to make text good.
One habit worth keeping: generate five variations and read them before anything goes out. The failure mode is never the syntax, it is a group where two options mean the same thing, or one that reads fine alone and badly in combination with a choice three groups later.
