Slim SEO: what it does, what it costs
WordPress SEO with almost nothing to configure — and no renewal price trick.
Slim SEO at a glance
Every row is a verified field or an honest absence. A row is dropped rather than filled with an em dash, so the length of this table says how complete the record is.

What Slim SEO is
Slim SEO takes the opposite approach to every WordPress SEO plugin with a settings page full of tabs: install it and it works. Meta titles and descriptions, schema, social markup and sitemaps are generated automatically, with minimal configuration and deliberately little jargon. On a large site where every query and database row counts, the small code base is the point.
The vendor is unusually straight about the free version, stating that it is already complete and not limited in a way that forces an upgrade. That is verifiable in what Pro actually adds: a visual schema builder with 30-plus pre-built types and custom JSON-LD, contextual internal link suggestions, real-time link health monitoring with broken link repair and a link updater, Search Console integration and a writing assistant. Those are additions, not ransomed basics.
Pro is priced per year at $179 for unlimited sites, $119 for 10 sites and $59 for the entry tier, each including a year of updates and support — and each stating "renewal at regular price". In a market where the first-year discount quietly doubling on renewal is standard practice, saying the renewal price equals the purchase price is worth noticing. The unlimited tier excludes enterprises, hosts, SaaS companies and maintenance providers, who are asked to contact the vendor.
What you can use it for
- Get WordPress SEO handled automatically with almost no setup
- Keep a large site fast with a minimal-footprint plugin
- Build schema visually from 30-plus pre-built types
- Find and repair broken internal links in real time
The features that matter for SEO
Each one says what it does and the SEO job it serves. A vendor feature list without that second half tells you nothing you could not read on their own site.
Automatic configuration
Generates meta tags, schema, social markup and sitemaps without a settings walkthrough.
The core proposition. Most WordPress SEO problems come from misconfigured plugins, and removing the configuration removes that class of error.
Less control if you want to override behaviour per template.
Small code base
Ships a deliberately minimal plugin footprint.
Its users cite this specifically for large sites. A lighter plugin means fewer queries per page load, which is a real performance argument rather than a marketing one.
Visual schema builder
Builds schema from 30-plus pre-built types, with custom JSON-LD, in Pro.
The strongest reason to pay. Hand-writing JSON-LD in WordPress is error-prone, and a builder with real types covers most of what a site needs.
Real-time link health monitoring
Monitors internal link health, repairs broken links and updates changed URLs, in Pro.
Internal links break silently on every restructure. Automatic repair is the difference between a known problem and an unknown one.
Contextual link suggestions
Suggests internal links relevant to the content, in Pro.
Internal linking is the highest-return work most sites neglect, precisely because doing it manually does not scale.
Renewal at the same price
States renewal at the regular price on every Pro tier.
Worth calling out in a market where the renewal often costs double the first year. It makes the multi-year cost predictable.
Search Console integration
Connects Search Console data into the plugin, in Pro.
Puts real query and click data next to the page you are editing, which is where a decision about that page actually gets made.

Questions
How much does Slim SEO cost?
The plugin is free. Slim SEO Pro is $59, $119 or $179 a year — the middle tier covering 10 sites and the top one unlimited — each with a year of updates and support, and each renewing at the same price rather than a higher one. Verified on 20 August 2026.
What does Pro add that the free plugin lacks?
A visual schema builder with 30-plus types and custom JSON-LD, contextual internal link suggestions, real-time link health monitoring with broken link repair and a link updater, Search Console integration and a writing assistant. The vendor states the free version is complete on its own.
Is automatic configuration a limitation?
It is a trade. You lose per-template control and gain a plugin that cannot be misconfigured — which, given how many WordPress SEO problems are configuration errors, is the better default for most sites and the wrong one for a site with unusual templates.
