NEURONwriter: what it does, what it costs
Content optimisation at a third of the category's price, metered in analyses.

What NEURONwriter is
NEURONwriter does the standard content-optimisation job, pull the pages ranking for a query, extract the terms and topics they share, score a draft against that model, and prices it at a fraction of what the established tools charge. $23 a month for 25 content analyses sits against $49 and $129 entry tiers elsewhere.
It has also moved earlier than most of the category into AI search. Plans include a number of AI-monitored questions, so you can watch whether your content is being surfaced in AI answers alongside optimising it for search results, with a separate advanced monitoring add-on if you want more.
The metering is what to model before buying. Everything is counted: projects, content analyses, AI-monitored questions and AI credits, all stepping up together through five tiers. Twenty-five analyses a month is roughly one a working day, which suits a solo operator and constrains a team the moment two people are drafting.
NEURONwriter in context
NEURONwriter occupies the space between a free content checker and a $129-a-month optimisation platform, and for a solo consultant or a small content operation, that space is exactly where the budget lands. Bronze at $23 a month ($19 billed yearly) gives 25 content analyses across 2 projects — enough for someone publishing two to four articles a month and wanting SERP-based guidance on each one.
The core product does the same job as Clearscope and Surfer: score a draft against what currently ranks, show the terms it is missing, and suggest structure based on the competition. On that specific task, the output is close enough that price and workflow decide the purchase. Where NEURONwriter loses ground is scale. Analyses are capped tightly per plan, sharing is read-only, and there is no way to hand a draft to a writer inside the tool the way Surfer’s Google Docs integration allows.
The AI-monitored questions feature — five on the entry plan, seven on Silver — is a useful inclusion at this price. It will not support a GEO programme, but it answers the preliminary question of whether AI answers mention the brand at all, without requiring a second subscription. For an advanced add-on at $9 a month, the allowance grows modestly.
The product is a reasonable first choice for anyone who needs SERP-grounded content optimisation, publishes at a pace that fits within the analysis caps, and cannot justify Clearscope’s $129 entry price or Surfer’s $99. It is not a reasonable choice for a team of writers working simultaneously, because the caps bind immediately and the collaboration features are minimal.
What you can use it for
- Score a draft against the pages currently ranking, cheaply
- Monitor whether your content appears in AI answers to tracked questions
- Build content plans and briefs from SERP analysis
- Optimise content across a handful of projects on a small budget
The features that matter for SEO
Each one says what it does and the SEO job it serves. A vendor feature list without that second half tells you nothing you could not read on their own site.
SERP-based content analysis
Analyses the pages ranking for a query and scores a draft against their term and topic coverage.
The core job of the category, at the lowest credible price. The gap list is the useful output; the score is the packaging.
Metered at 25 analyses a month on the entry plan.
AI-monitored questions
Tracks whether your content surfaces in AI answers for a set number of questions.
Earlier into this than most of the category, and included rather than sold as a tier upgrade, five questions on the entry plan is a genuine starting point.
Five to seven questions on the lower tiers. An advanced add-on extends it.
Content plan and briefs
Builds plans and briefs from the SERP analysis.
Turns the analysis into an instruction a writer can follow, which is where most optimisation tools stop short.
AI credits
Meters AI generation and assistance separately from analyses.
Two currencies to track (analyses and credits) so model your actual publishing volume against both before choosing a tier.
WordPress and browser integration
Connects to WordPress and works through a browser extension.
Optimising where the writing happens rather than in a separate tab is what determines whether the tool gets used at all.
Read-only content sharing
Shares analyses with people who do not have a seat.
Lets a freelancer see the brief without a licence, which matters when the entry plan is built for one person.

Alternatives to NEURONwriter
Each one answers when it is the better choice, which is the only thing a list of competitors is useful for.
- Clearscope Choose it when the team is large, unlimited users on every plan changes the arithmetic completely.
- Surfer Choose it when you want optimisation inside Google Docs and WordPress with the metric writers already know.
- Frase Choose it when you want research, drafting, publishing and decay monitoring rather than optimisation alone.
- Rankability Choose it when you want a comparable price point with a different scoring model.

Questions
How much does NEURONwriter cost?
Bronze is $23 a month, or $19 billed yearly, for 2 projects and 25 content analyses. Silver is $45 or $37 for 5 projects and 50 analyses, then Gold $69, Platinum $93 and Diamond $117, each around 20% less billed yearly. Verified on 19 August 2026.
Is NEURONwriter as good as Clearscope or Surfer?
On the core job (scoring a draft against what ranks) it is close enough that price and metering decide it. Where it loses is scale: analyses are capped tightly and sharing is read-only, so a team of writers hits the ceiling that Clearscope's unlimited users specifically removes.
What are AI-monitored questions?
A set number of questions whose AI answers it watches, to tell you whether your content is being surfaced. Five on the entry plan, seven on Silver, with an advanced add-on at $9 a month. Enough to find out whether the surface matters for your topic, not enough to run a GEO programme on.
